Matched Pair of Boosey & Hawkes Emperor Clarinets
An extremely good condition pair of B&H Emperors which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The sole owner of this pair was bought them new in the late 1970s and used them through both youth Orchestra and her time at Cambridge in the Symphony Orchestra there. The Emperor was the top of the range student model offered by B&H, equivalent to todays Buffet E13.
The Bb has matching serial nos. 484099, it has silver plating throughout, which is in good condition with only slight wear to the throat keys. The wood is in superb condition with no cracks or damage, and no marks to marks to the bell rim. The pads, whilst not new, are in good used condition. This Bb comes with a very nice B&H No. 2 m'piece. Two original barrels are supplied, a long and short, 64.5mm and 62.5mm. These are interchangeable with the A as the bores of Bb and a are identical.
The A has matching serial nos. A498528, and has had minimal use as the bright logo stamps prove. As with the Bb the wood condition is excellent, and all used fish skin pads are also in very good shape. The silver plating shows no wear bur there is some slight "blueing" due to being stored in a case for many years without use. Again 2 original barrels are supplied, along with a mint condition B&H 926 m'piece. The double case is good used condition, is well padded, with only slight interior stains. If desired the pair can be split as follows: 1. Bb in B&H original single case with m'piece, £345.
2. A in double case with B&H 926 m'piece, £375.
