Selmer, 10S II, B Flat Clarinet
A very fine condition Selmer 10S II clarinet. The 10S was the first small bore clarinet manufactured by Selmer to adopt a small bore undercut design, in the Buffet Crampon manner. The 10S II represents a major revision of the design which was undertaken in the late 1980's. Selmer seem to have tried to make the 10S II sit more easily with the later Recital clarinet: Compared to the original the instrument seems "darker toned" and plays slightly lower in pitch, i.e. aimed more at the US market.
This Bb, S/N F8754, dates to the late 1980's and has silver plate, in very good condition throughout. There are no cracks or damage to the wood, which has only slight surface marks and scuffs. All pieces are original and have matching stamps, including the 2 barrels of 64.5 and 66.5 mm. The clarinet has just had a complete overhaul in our workshop in fish skin pads, and is sold with our 1 year warranty. The key work is well regulated. The case is the original de-luxe combination lock Selmer, again in good condition, and the m'piece is a used Selmer E.
