Buffet, Master Model, B Flat Clarinet
A very fine condition Buffet Master Model E13. The Nickel Silver key work shows no wear, it is in excellent condition. We have just re-padded in Pisoni premium Deluxe fish skin pads & the clarinet is sold with our full year's Clarinets Direct warranty. The matching serial nos. are D36247 which dates to the mid 1970's. Back then the E13 range was tested at the Buffet factory, by Pierre Lefebvre, first clarinet of the Guarde Republicaine Band, with the finest instruments then undergoing further hand tuning and undercutting to improve the response. Therefore the customer had an instrument which was almost identical to an R13 on quality, but at less cost. The wood is in overall good condition, but there was one tiny surface crack to the start of the lower joint, running from the tenon ring to the first tone hole, at the start of the receiver tenon. This we have filled and sealed, in our workshop. As the tenon does not form the bore of the clarinet, this has no effect on the response, see photo 9. It is extremely difficult to photograph as the crack is so small. Sadly this model is deleted now from the Buffet range. Modern E13s are made from inferior wood which is stained to hide imperfections, in addition there is no longer any hand finishing or testing, as was the case for this clarinet. Furthermore the wood for this clarinet is unstained, with all pieces matching and original. The case is in good condition. The m'piece is the original Evette stamped 5, which has some ligature scratches but is otherwise in good condition.
