Pair of Boosey & Hawkes 1010 Clarinets
This pair of B&H 1010's are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct and have an impressive provenance: The instruments have been owned by Colin Parr, ex-Principal Clarinet of the CBSO. Colin is extremely fastidious in his choice of clarinets and this pair are outstanding examples of first generation Acton patent vent 1010s. Colin now plays on an English bore set of Rossi Mopane wood clarinets.
The Bb, serial no. 305843, has no cracks or repairs. The Silver plate throughout is in good condition. The pads are mainly all tan leather pads, in good used condition. The intonation and response of this Bb clarinet are outstanding.
The A, serial no. 274921, has no cracks or repairs. The Silver plate does show some wear mainly to the lower joint and RH F#/C# touchpiece. It has used fish skin pads, in good condition. As with the Bb the response and tuning are well above the average 1010. There are 2 barrels of 64.5mm and 61.5mm. The supplied m'pieces are an original B&H 1010 No. 2, which has some tooth indentation, and an excellent, brand new Morgan RM06 bored out to 1010 dimensions. The case is of modern rucksack type in very good condition.
