Matched Pair of Boosey & Hawkes 1010 Clarinets
A very fine condition pair of B&H Symphony 1010 clarinets which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This pair have an impressive provenance, having belonged to the late Tony Jennings. Tony was for many years Principal Bass Clarinet of the BBCSO, and this pair where his spare pair, and are in exceptional condition for their age. Both clarinets feature the early version of the Acton Patent Vent. The Bb, matching serial nos. 263528 [dating to the mid 1960s], has no wear to the silver plate, only some natural tarnish. There is no damage to the wood, which is in excellent condition. The thumb rest has been re-positioned higher and the original screw holes filled. The A, matching serial nos. 267340, [dating to mid 1960s] has silver plate in good condition. Again there are no cracks or damage to the wood. The barrel is from a pre-war 1010, with serial numbers 35285. The pads throughout are used tan leather, all are sealing well. Some of the tenon corks will need replacing in the near future, but otherwise the clarinets are in fine shape. The m'piece is an original Brymer 2 B&H in excellent condition. The case is the original which is good condition.
