Buffet RC, B Flat Clarinet
An excellent condition Buffet RC Bb clarinet in silver plate. The Buffet RC model was launched in 1975, and named after Robert Carree, who had had a long career with Buffet Crampon, which culminated in him being chief designer. The RC places the speaker tube higher, and features a slighter wider initial polycylindrical bore than the R13. Most players find this results in a warmer, more "spread" tone, than the R13.
This example has matching serial numbers F175961, which dates to 1977. This was early in the production run of the RC model, and it is standard practice with Buffet to put their best and most experienced craftsman to hand finish their new top production models. This is immediately apparent when you play this fine example, the scale and intonation are superb, more than equal to a current RC Prestige.
There is no damage to the hand selected unstained wood, which is crack and repair free. All pieces are matching and original and stamped "Buffet". The plating overall is excellent, with no discernible wear. The instrument has barely used white leather pads, with the 2 lowest trill keys and register key in cork. The supplied m'piece is a up-grade to a used professional Vandoren 5RV Lyre in ebonite. The case is a Buffet in good condition.
