Boosey & Hawkes pre-war 1010 B Flat Clarinet
A rare and unique Boosey & Hawkes pre-war 1010 Bb clarinet with an impressive provenance: This instrument was formerly owned by Tony Lamb, ex-Principal Clarinet of ENO Orchestra and also Tony Coe, one of the UK's best known Jazz clarinettists. It has most recently been owned by another Tony, Anthony Wright, a professional player based in Surrey.
For Tony Coe the instrument was further modified by Jon Steward, chief designer of the Howarth professional S1 clarinet, with a second generation Acton Vent fitted. In addition much tuning work was done, and the articulated C#/G# mechanism was disabled, with the RH touchpiece for C#/G# removed. The instrument has matching serial numbers throughout, 33583, and is in superb condition. The Silver plating throughout is pristine and there are no cracks or damage to the wood. The clarinet has been well maintained, all pads are used tan leather in excellent condition. The supplied Brad Behn m'piece has been bore out to 1010 dimensions by Peter Eaton. In summation; no expense has been spared to put this 1010 pre-war into fine playing condition and it is an outstanding example.
