Selmer, Reference 36, Tenor Saxophone
This instrument is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct, having had only one London based professional player from new. The Selmer Reference 36 tenor saxophone is handmade in Paris, France, by highly experienced craftsmen. Its number refers back to 1936 when the famous Balanced Action model was first produced. The Reference 36 takes the feel, sound and spirit of the Balanced Action and re-imagines it to suit the requirements of modern Saxophonists.
The Reference 36 has a rich, warm sound and the key layout is compact and easy to navigate across the whole range. The rich gold lacquer finish also nods back to the darker, more amber coloured lacquer Selmer used in the pre-war age.
Purchased new in 2002 from Howarth of London. It is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. With tan leather pads with plastic reflectors throughout in very good used condition. There are a few small areas where natural lacquer wear has occurred. Supplied with a good quality Hiscox case, sling, reeds and reed case, and a used Selmer C* m'piece.
