Malerne, Paris, C Clarinet
A very good condition, R M Malerne, Paris, C Clarinet. Malerne were a second rank French manufacturer active from 1932 to about 1950. Importantly for a C clarinet this instruments tunes well with a standard Bb clarinet m'piece, and a modern example made in the USA is supplied. The clarinet has excellent condition white leather pads throughout. The nickel silver plating shows some wear mainly to the throat G# key and ring finger touch-pieces. There are no cracks to the Grenadilla wood, though there are a couple of surface scuffs to the upper joint, see photo 6. The last owner has has some wooden tenon guards made to ensure that this C fits snuggly inside the supplied Bb case, which is a modern example with carry straps in excellent condition.
