Matched Pair of Leblanc Dynamic H Clarinets
These are a rare pair of Leblanc H Dynamic clarinets which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The sole and original owner bought this pair new from Lewington's who were the sole UK Leblanc main dealer in the 1970s. This pair were used to gain her a place at the Royal Academy of Music in London, but in fact she decided to train as a GP rather than pursue music. The condition is outstanding.
The H Dynamic clarinet was made as a "top of the range" Leblanc, the specification includes: Offset trill keys, balanced key action, separate post mounted, C#/G# keys and Ab/Eb keys. Tapered tone holes and a cylindrical upper joint. The bore, at 15.00-15.10mm, was the largest that Leblanc manufactured for a clarinet, and as the name H, for high, Dynamic suggests, it was made for the jazz market and competed with the Selmer Series 9. The intonation and response are the equal of the most expensive French instruments sold today. The Bb has matching serial nos. 40105 and has Nickel Silver plate in excellent condition. The wood is in fine condition, with no cracks or repairs. The instrument has used fish skin pads, but all are sealing well. The A has matching serial nos. 38068 and has Nickel Silver plate in pristine condition. The wood is in overall excellent condition, with no cracks or repairs. The instrument has used fish skin pads, but all are sealing well. There are two original Leblanc barrels of 66.0mm and 66.5mm and a custom Rossi of 61mm [Not pictured]. The 3 m'pieces are all Leblancs, in used condition. The case is the original in good condition, though there is some interior wear.
