Leblanc, Paris, E Flat Clarinet
This is an extremely rare 7 ring Leblanc, Paris, Eb clarinet with compensating low G/D vent. Given the style of key work and early serial number, 3255, it is likely that this top professional model dates to the 1960s. There are no cracks or damage to the wood, though there are surface marks and scratches. It appears that the top tenon ring is missing, see photo 4. The Nickel Silver plate shows wear throughout, it is approximately 80%. The advantage of the compensating G/D vent is not only apparent to those pitches, but it has the beneficial affect of raising the entire 3rd register, an inherent shortcoming of any other manufacturer's Eb clarinets. This instrument then would suit a player looking for an even and well tuning Eb, but not overly concerned about its' cosmetic appearance. The fish skin pads are all in "as new " condition. The original m'piece and case are both in very good condition.
