Selmer, Paris, Alto Clarinet
This is a very fine condition Selmer Paris Alto clarinet to low Eb, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The Silver plated key work is in pristine condition with no wear. The sleeved, adjustable, crook is in excellent condition, as is the bell. The wood is in very good condition, with no cracks or repairs, though there are two tiny nicks to the tenon edges at the bottom of the upper and lower joints see photos 2 & 3. The last owner was an amateur who bought this instrument fully reconditioned from a major London dealer. The Alto has tan leather pads throughout in excellent condition. This is a superb alto; Selmer is generally held to be the finest manufacturer in the world. The serial nos. are W3842 on the upper joint and W3840 on the lower which dates to 1970. It is highly likely that the reason for this slight mismatch is human error, as these serial numbers would indicate that the instrument was made within the same week at Selmer's factory. The case is a modern example in very good condition. The m'piece is a used Selmer D. A selection of reeds is included as well as a Selmer sling of the correct double hook design. The current list price for this Selmer Alto is £8389.
