Buffet E14 B Flat Clarinet
A good condition Buffet Master Model ME13, though Buffet, confusingly, also designated this model the E14. The matching serial nos. are D50747 which dates to the late 1970's, this makes this example one of the last manufactured, which could account for the E14 stamp. Back then the E13 range was tested at the Buffet factory, by Pierre Lefebvre, first clarinet of the Guarde Republicaine Band, with the finest instruments then undergoing further hand tuning and undercutting to improve the response. Therefore the customer had an instrument which was almost identical to an R13 on quality, but at less cost. There are no cracks to the wood which is in fine condition throughout. The Nickel Silver key work shows some wear, it is in fair condition. The pads are all brand new Pisoni premium Deluxe fish skin as this instrument has just had a full overhaul in our workshop, it is sold with our 1 year warranty. Sadly this model is now deleted from the Buffet range. Modern E13s are made from inferior wood which is stained to hide imperfections, in addition there is no longer any hand finishing or testing, as was the case for this clarinet. Furthermore the wood for this clarinet is unstained, with all pieces matching and original. The case is a Selmer which is much travelled! The m'piece is a Vandoren 5RV in good condition.
