Pair of Rossi English Bore Clarinets
This rare and unique pair of Luis Rossi English bore clarinets are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. They were commissioned by an English player who requested a "thin walled" design, which is closer to the pre-war Boosey and Hawkes 1010 designs. This makes the instruments lively, and yet there is more power and projection in the sound than with original pre-war clarinets.
The Bb S/N E287, has Silver plate in excellent condition, with no wear. The wood is also in perfect condition, with no cracks or damage. The instruments have been well maintained regularly serviced and have a mixture of pads throughout, all pads are sealing well and will be good for sometime to come. Both clarinets feature an English bore based on the pre-war 1010, but with much improved acoustics and intonation.
The A S/N E288, has Silver plate throughout is in pristine condition. The wood has nocracks or damage. As with the Bb, the instrument has been well maintained, and there are a mixture of older and newer pads. The original thumb rests have been replaced with a Selmer design. There are no less than 18 barrels of a wide variety of lengths [64-74mm] and different woods, Rosewood, and Grenadilla. The m'pieces is a used Vandoren profile 88 5RV Lyre, bored out to 1010 dimensions. There are also several Morgan m'pieces, not pictured, which have also been bored out, and, if desired, one of these could be substituted for the Vandoren. There are also 2 Rossi cases supplied, a single and a double, both cases are in good used condition.
