Matched Pair of Boosey & Hawkes 1010 Clarinets
A good condition pair of B&H Symphony 1010 clarinets which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct, having belonged to an amateur player in the West Country. As usual the Bb of this pair of 1010s has had more use, the A, less so. The Bb, matching serial nos. 453224 [dating to the late 1970s], has no wear to the silver plate, only some natural tarnish. There is no damage to the wood, which is in excellent condition. The A, matching serial nos. 444711 [dating to the late 1970s] has silver plate in good condition, apart from some tarnish to the barrel tenon rings. Again there are no cracks or damage to the wood. All pieces are matching and original. Like the Bb, the A features the later design of Acton patent vent for improved RH tuning. Both instruments have original Gordon Beeson tan leather pads, which are well used but sealing. The clarinets have been to our workshop for a check over prior to sale, with tenon corks replaced as necessary. There are 2 barrels of 62.5mm and 64.5mm. The m'piece is an original B&H No.2, which plays well. The case is the original, which is in fair condition, but is still functional. If required a better condition used double case can be supplied for an additional £50.00.
