Matched Pair of Selmer Recital Clarinets
A superb matched pair of Selmer Recital clarinets in Silver plate. These instrument are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct, and have an impressive Provenance: The pair was bought initially by one of the leading British clarinettists of her generation, Dame Thea King. Subsequently they were then sold by Thea to Joy Farrall, who is also one of Britain's leading clarinettists. The last owner is an amateur who has taken special care of this fine pair. These instruments have been used in nearly all of the major British orchestras as well as for solo recordings and performances. The tuning and response are very fine, and they are outstanding examples of their type.
There is no damage to the wood, which is crack and repair free. The plating overall is very good with no loss. Both instruments have tan leather pads throughout which are in excellent condition. There key regulation is good, there is no joint wobble. The Bb has S/N M7329, the A S/N M6105. All pieces are original and stamped Selmer, there are no less than 6 barrels. The original barrels measure, 61.5mm, 62.5mm, 63.5mm and 64.5mm and there are 2 further, more recent barrels of 63.5mm. The case is an original Selmer, it is used, but in excellent condition, and features carry handles as well as back pack straps. These instruments have been exceptionally well cared for.
