Conn B Flat Clarinet
A rare Conn 514-N metal clarinet. Metal clarinets were manufactured from the 1890s by Conn, and these were of advanced design, with double walls, the so-called "thermos clarinet".
In the 1920s Conn advertised metal clarinets at a considerable price premium over wooden instruments. These were ideal for military or outdoor use. This instrument was formerly owned by a UK professional Jazz player. It is in good condition for its age. The Silver plating shows little wear, there are only a few minor dings to the bell, see photo. The clarinet has been down to our workshop for a thorough "check down" prior to sale, with regulation as necessary. The fish skin pads are used, but all sealing well. The original case is worn, but fully functional. The serial numbers are 313900.
