Boosey & Hawkes 926 Imperial B Flat Clarinet
This rare ebonite Imperial 926 Bb Clarinet is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This is a one owner instrument from new, with the original owner having purchased it as he was domiciled in South Africa. It would make good sense to purchase an ebonite instrument as that material is far more stable in extreme heat and copes better with varying humidity also. The Imperial 926 was manufactured as a professional quality instrument on a par with the Imperial Symphony 1010, but with a bore of 15.0mm, as opposed to the 15.25mm of the 1010.
This Bb, with matching serial nos. 87729, dating to the early 1950's, has no cracks or repairs. The nickel silver plate throughout is in excellent condition with no discernible wear. The tan leather pads are used, but still sealing well. The supplied m'piece is new old stock G Howarth No.1, which is close and moderately long. The case is an original B&H which shows exterior scuffs with some stains to the interior, it latches well
