Selmer, Paris, Bass Clarinet
This is a very fine condition Selmer Paris Bass Clarinet in Grenadilla wood, to low Eb, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The last owner was a professional based in the North East and she has taken exemplary care of this instrument. The Selmer Paris Bass is considered the finest in the World due to its excellent ergonomics, and automatic double over-blowing vent for the second register. All Nickel Silver key work is in pristine condition with no wear. The bell and crook are on very good condition, with no "dings" or "dents". The crook is a sleeved and adjustable. There is an old crack repair to the upper joint which runs from the top of the joint through the speaker tube and down to a pillar, see photos 5 and 6. The crack has been filled and glued and as part of this repair the speaker tube has been re-glued. This repair has been stable for in excess of 50 years. This Bass has used tan leather pads, with some newer examples, and the lower pads all have reflectors. This instrument will play perfectly out of the case. There is a floor peg to the bell. The matching serial nos. are T454 which dates to 1963. The BAM case is in excellent condition and comes with still wrapped carry straps. The m'piece is a used Selmer C**.
