Howarth, S1, B Flat Clarinet
A very fine condition Howarth S1 Bb clarinet in Grenadilla wood, which was the first professional clarinet that Howarth manufactured, designed to compete with the Buffet Prestige range. The S1 model was designed by the late Jon Steward, and features some innovative key work to minimise touch cork wear. At 14.85mm bore it is free blowing, and very well in tune.
The wood throughout is in superb condition, with no cracks or damage. There is no joint wobble. The fish skin pads are all in very good condition. The Silver plated key work is in very good condition throughout with only a tiny bit of wear to the RH ring fingers. The Bb has matching serial nos. are 1335. The supplied m'piece is a used Vandoren B40. The Bags single case is also in very good condition.
