Couesnon B Flat Clarinet
This is a fine Bb clarinet made by Couesnon. At one time they were the largest French manufacturer of band instruments, and trumpet and clarinet manufacture continued until the 1960's. Auguste Perier, the great French clarinettist, endorsed the "Monopole" clarinet, which was considered one of the best instruments in the period after the 1st World War. This example probably dates from that inter war period and is in very good condition. The Maillechort key work is in good order throughout. The instrument has been through our workshop for a partial overhaul, with pads and corks replaced as necessary. The bell is actually of ebonite, the rest of the clarinet is made of wood, which has no cracks, damage or other repairs. The m'piece is a student model, and the case is a Buffet, which has a repair to the handle and back hinge, but is fully functional. This instrument plays well, with a fine tone, and is excellent value for money.
