Malerne, Paris, C Clarinet
An excellent condition, R M Malerne, Paris, C Clarinet. Malerne were a second rank French manufacturer active from 1932 to about 1950. That is not to say that their instruments were of poor quality: Bass clarinets were made to a good standard, as is this C, with anchored pillar posts and also metal tenons to the upper joint. Likely this was made as a professional model.
Importantly for a C clarinet this instruments tunes well with a modern Bb clarinet m'piece , and a used Vandoren 11.6 is supplied. The clarinet has just had a complete overhaul in fish skin pads in our workshop, and is sold with our 1 year warranty. There are no cracks or damage to the unstained Grenadilla wood, which is in excellent condition throughout. The original case, has some tears to the interior lining but still latches and protects the clarinet well, for a case likely dating to the 1950s, it is in good used condition. The matching serial numbers are 899.
This clarinet plays evenly and well in tune across the entire range
