Yamaha CSG II Custom B Flat Clarinet
A nice condition Yamaha CSG Custom II Bb clarinet, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. Yamaha made great claims for the CSG range; a new bore design is supposed to provide great tonal richness, as found in older instruments made from properly aged Grenadilla. Certainly the design has found much favour with many fine players, including Michael Collins, Nicholas Carpenter and Nicholas Cox.
This Bb clarinet, matching serial nos. 03358 has wood which is finest unstained Grenadilla, there are 2 surface cracks to the upper joint, neither of which goes into the bore. Both cracks have been filled and sealed, and the crack which runs towards the top trill key hole has also been pinned. The cracks where repaired in 2017, with no issues since then. With this instrument a young player has achieved both Grade 8 and a performance diploma. Now he is at University reading Science and has decided to concentrate on this, and the saxophone. This instrument has silver plating in excellent condition throughout. The instrument has the original "reflector" Yamaha pads on the lower pad cups and used fish skin pads elsewhere. The original thumb rest has been replaced with a Ton Kooiman adjustable model. The Yamaha case is also in good used condition & the m'piece is a used Vandoren B45 spot. This clarinet represents superb value for money, with a refined tone and superb intonation.
