Noblet, Plateau, B Flat Clarinet
A good condition Noblet, by Leblanc, Paris France, Plateau B flat clarinet. This is a model 40 wooden intermediate Noblet, with a covered hole mechanism, i.e. plateau. Noblet was founded in 1750, which made them the oldest clarinet manufacturer in the world, and the company was bought by Leblanc in the early 20th Century. The key work, which is in Nickel Silver, shows some spot wear mainly to the ring finger touchpieces. The Grenadilla wood throughout is in good condition, with no cracks or repairs, but there is a minor chip to the outer rim of the top tenon, see photo 4. The barrel is made of resonite. The clarinet has just been fully overhauled in cork and white leather pads, an "Artist Quality" set up. The matching serial numbers are 22822. The case is brand new, with an outer pouch and carry strap. The m'piece is the original Noblet in good used condition. This clarinet continued to be manufactured by Leblanc right up until they ceased manufacture in 2009. It was described by them as "specifically designed for the younger player, doubler or even the arthritic player who may have difficulty covering the standard open-tone-hole".
