Leblanc, Paris, Bass Clarinet to low C
This is a rare G Leblanc, Paris, Bass Clarinet in Grenadilla wood, to low C, later designated model 330S. This model features a fork Ab/Eb in the RH which neatly does away with the necessity for another key for the LH little finger, and produces an alternative Ab-Eb that is more resonant. To quote the Leblanc brochure: "The 330 models demonstrate a beautiful dark, robust tone quality and key guards for the Ab-Eb, A-E, and G-D keys that provide extra protection to these critical areas." This Bass has been professionally owned and played here in the UK and is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct.
The instrument has been extremely well maintained. The Grenadilla wood does show slight scuffs and marks associated with normal use, but there are no cracks or damage. The Nickel Silver plated key work shows some spot wear mainly to the ring finger touch pieces. The crook is in good condition, as is the bell, which has only slight scratches. The original tenon guard for the upper joint is included. This Bass features alternative left and right pinky fingerings for low D, with low C# & C fingered by the RH thumb keys. There is a floor peg attachment. The instrument has finest Pisoni white leather pads throughout which are all in excellent used condition. The serial nos. are 6510, which probably dates to the 1960's, online Leblanc serial number lists are unreliable. The supplied mouthpiece is a stock Buffet in good condition. The instrument comes in an "as new" BAM case.
