Noblet, by Leblanc, Bass Clarinet
This is a good condition Noblet, by Leblanc, Paris, Bass Clarinet in Grenadilla wood, to low Eb. It is a model 60, the entry level professional Bass made by Leblanc, Paris, and is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The Nickel Silver key work shows spot wear to the ring finger touch pieces, it is approximately 85%. The wood is in good order with no cracks or repairs, apart from a tiny chip to the outer rim of the upper joint tenon [see photo 4], and the marching band lyre attachment has been removed with the screw holes left unfilled. The crook has a couple of minor dents, as does the bell, which is not original to the instrument but a Leblanc USA Vito. The Bass has excellent condition tan leather pads throughout. There is a floor peg attachment to the bell with spike, & also a sling hook. The matching serial nos. are 7072, which probably dates to the 1970s; Leblanc serial number lists found online are unreliable. The case shows scuffs to the exterior and stains with wear to the interior, but is original and in good condition for its age. The m'piece is a Pillinger P40N in good condition. In summation, this is a bargain priced example of this popular Bass, which plays nicely. It would suit a professional player, or doubler, on a budget.
