Selmer, 9 *, B Flat Clarinet
This Selmer Series 9* Bb clarinet is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This instrument has belonged to a professional London based player. The 9* was marketed by Selmer as "pour la musique symphonique", the 9 was "pour le jazz et les varietes." In other words the slightly smaller bore Series 9*, with undercutting, was aimed at the classical market, the wide bore Series 9 at the Jazz market. The clarinet has matching serial nos., U3730 which dates to 1965. The Nickel Silver plating is good throughout, with only slight wear to the rings, and throat G# and A keys. The pads are predominantly all used, and are a mix of tan leather & fish skin, apart from the register key pad which is in cork. All are in fine order, and will be good for many months to come. The clarinet has been down to our workshop, with pads replaced as necessary and also for key work regulation. There are no cracks or repairs to the Grenadilla wood, which is in fine order throughout, with only minor surface scratches and scuffs. The supplied Selmer case is in good condition, as is the m'piece, which is a used Selmer C**.
