Shepherd B Flat Clarinet
This is a Leslie Shepherd, Sussex, B Flat clarinet. Most likely this instrument was a stencil for the eponymous dealer. The practice continues today with many of the same instruments sourced from China appearing with different dealers stamps and logos. This is a fine Grenadilla wood instrument, which will need a full restoration to make it playable. We are simply too busy in our workshop to undertake the task. There are no cracks or damage to the wood. The German silver key work will need buffing to bring back its shine. The matching serial numbers are B715, which may indicate a "B" class instrument of French manufacture, the style of key work would appear to suggest this. The m'piece is currently fixed in the barrel. The original case is worn but functional.
