Conn, 6M, Alto Saxophone
This is an excellent condition, Conn 6M Alto Saxophone which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. There are no dents and only minor blemishes to the silver plate with all keywork, rods and screws in very good condition.
This is a Pre-war Conn 6M VIII which are commonly referred to as the ‘lady face models’ because of the engraving of a woman on the bell. The Conn M horns were played by the likes of Charlie Parker and Benny Carter. This particular type have a cult following and are consequently highly desired & respected. The body is in extremely fine condition. It has Rolled Tone Holes and the fine-tuning, sleeved, neck adjuster. It also has the highly desirable Stamp VIII (which may symbolize the 8th roller that was added to the LH pinky cluster). The pads are used tan leather, with reflectors on the largest pads, in very good condition. The serial number is M262821A, which dates to late 1934 making this model on the cusp of the New Wonder [Transitional] and Naked Lady models. The original case is also in very good condition for its age with only minor tears to the interior lining.
