Selmer, Modele 26, Alto Saxophone
This vintage Selmer Alto is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct having been last owned by a collector. The instrument was last fully overhauled in June 2020, the detailed invoice for this work will be included in the sale. This is a beautiful vintage instrument with silver plate finish that is in remarkably good condition for its age. There are only a few minor dings, and evidence of a solder repair to the marching band lyre attachment. It plays responsively across the range and has a focused tone quality in keeping with its narrow bore. It speaks quickly and the keywork is light and responsive. The sound is wider and more open than a modern Selmer, kind of like a Selmer/Conn hybrid. The serial number is 7899 which dates to 1928. The supplied case is in good used condition.
