Buffet R13 Vintage A Clarinet
NB. Though a pair of clarinets is pictured, the Bb is sold. Only the A, in double case is for sale. This Buffet R13 Vintage A clarinet is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. It has been professionally owned by a UK based professional, and is in exceptional condition. The clarinet has had aftermarket custom work by Alan Andrews to improve voicing and tuning. In addition the barrels have had wooden tenon rings fitted. The R13 Vintage was Buffet's attempt to recreate the design ethos and quality of the original 1950 R13: To that end unstained hand selected wood was chosen, and an additional LH, Ab/Eb key added, but the design was also changed: A double poly-cylindrical barrel was offered, the speaker tube was re-positioned partially out of the bore of the A, and a long C#/G# tone hole chimney fitted. This help correct some of the problems with the original design.
This A has matching serial numbers 599469. It has superpads throughout in excellent condition. The key regulation is good and there are no cracks or damage to the wood, which is crack and repair free. The Silver plate is pristine. There are 2 barrels, a 65mm original and a 66mm Moennig Buffet. The original pouchette Buffet case is also in excellent condition.
