Rene Dumont, Paris, Bass Clarinet
This is a good condition Rene Dumont, Paris, Bass Clarinet in Grenadilla wood to low Eb, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The instrument was most likely made as a professional level model due to the [for the time] relatively advanced double over blowing mechanism for the 2nd register: Like a Selmer, Paris, Bass, the upper vent is actuated for the note E and above in the clarion register. Another indication of the superior quality of this instruments' manufacture are the reinforcing metal tenon rings. There are no cracks or damage to the body, which has many slight surface marks. The crook and the bell are both in fine condition, with only minor marks & dings, no dents. There is a floor spike attachment to the bell. There is wear and tarnish to the German Silver key work, and the throat A key touch-piece has been lengthened in the past. The Bass has Tan Leather pads throughout in very good used condition. The serial numbers are 377. The instrument has been down to our workshop to be regulated. The case is a good condition Selmer originally for a low C Bass NB pictured in the first and last photos. The m'piece is a used Vandoren B44 in fair condition. This is an excellent early wooden Bass clarinet, with a fine even tone and response. It would be ideal for a professional player on a budget.
