Pair of English Bore Rossi Clarinets
A fine pair of English bore Rossi clarinets which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. They were commissioned by an English player who requested a "thin walled" design, which is closer to the pre-war Boosey and Hawkes 1010 designs. This makes the instruments lively, and yet there is more power and projection in the sound than with original pre-war clarinets.
The Bb has Silver plate in very good condition, with no wear, though there are some slight scratches, and, in order to help with a hand condition, the RH upper touchpieces have been lengthened and re-angled . The wood is also in good condition, with no cracks or damage, though the rear thumb rest as been re-positioned lower, and the screw holes left unfilled. The instruments have been well maintained, regularly serviced, and have a mixture of pads throughout, all pads are sealing well and will be good for sometime to come. Both clarinets feature an English bore based on the pre-war 1010, but with much improved acoustics and intonation.
The A has Silver plate throughout is in excellent condition. The wood has no cracks or damage. As with the Bb, the instrument has been well maintained, and there are a mixture of older and newer pads. There are 3 barrels of 66-68mm. The m'pieces is a used B&H 593 which has been bored out to 1010 dimensions. The Rossi case supplied is in good used condition.
