Selmer, Paris, Contra-Alto Clarinet
This is an excellent condition Selmer, Paris, Contra-Alto clarinet in Rosewood, to low Eb, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This instrument has been last owned by a London based professional, and this Contra has seen only light use. The Selmer Contra-Alto is generally considered the finest in the world, due to its excellent response and fine ergonomics. It plays almost as easily as a Bass clarinet.
This instrument is in pristine condition, without cracks or damage to the wood. The pads are all tan leather and in very fine condition. The Silver plating is also excellent throughout, with no wear. The matching serial numbers are D5577, which dates to 1985. The original case shows some exterior scuffs, and the interior has one tear to the lining which has been taped over, this is where the linkage for the upper register key vent protrudes into the case. The supplied m'piece is a Selmer C*, which is again in very good condition. A selection of Vandoren 3 reeds are also included.
