Selmer, Paris, Plateau B Flat Clarinet
An ultra rare plateau Selmer Bb clarinet, so rare in fact, that this is the only example of a Pre-Centered Tone plateau that Clarinets Direct has ever seen. The matching serial numbers are M8876, dating to 1946, this fact makes it highly likely that this instrument was a special order for a player who had suffered some injury in WW II.
The keywork design is excellent, superior to the plateau key work designs of Leblanc. Many adjusting screws are incorporated, allowing for optimum venting and regulation. This results in fine response and tuning which make this clarinet perfect for a professional player with arthritis or other fingering problems.
The pads are all brand new fish skin, apart from the register key which is on cork. We have just fully overhauled the clarinet, and it is sold with our 1 year warranty. The German Silver key work is pristine throughout, with no wear. There are no cracks or damage to wood of the main pieces, but the bell has a glued crack repair. There are 2 supplied barrels an original which has been shortened to 57mm and a Buffet, with a matching bore, 15.0mm, of 64mm length. The case is the original in good condition, and the m'piece is a used Vandoren 5RV in good condition.
