Matched Pair of Luis Rossi Clarinets
A near mint condition pair of Rossi L.R. bore model clarinets which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The sole previous owner is a South American professional player, and these instruments were bought new in 2013. With a poly-cylindrical bore these clarinets are based on a synthesis of both the Rossi American bore and French bore designs, with excellent tuning and a robust warm tone quality. The instruments feature a compensating G/D vent which has many benefits, including raising the pitch of the 3rd register; a major shortcoming of the R13 design. They also both have fully automatic low F tuning correction working off the register key, a design which has recently been imitated by other makers. In common with all Rossi clarinets the instruments are in a single piece which allows the correct positioning of the C#/G# hole.
The Bb, S/N LR 1141, is in excellent condition, with lightly used white leather pads throughout. The wood is in pristine condition, with no cracks or damage. The silver plating is like new.
The A, S/N LR 1144, is in a similar condition to the Bb, with perfect wood condition and silver plate. Both instruments have had a thorough "check down" by a French luthier prior to sale.
There are 4 barrels, 2 short and 2 long to play at A=440 & 442 respectively. The original Carlos Bona case is in very good condition.
