A good condition Selmer, Paris, enhanced Boehm Bb Clarinet, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This clarinet has 7 rings, rather than 6, allowing for a fork Eb/Bb in the LH & an articulated C#/G#. Selmer clarinets were a quantum leap forward in clarinet design, possibly the best instruments of French manufacture available in the 1920s. . Certainly the company enjoyed phenomenal sales success amongst professional players worldwide. This clarinet has matching serial numbers 8618, which probably dates to 1928. The instruments were very well in tune for the day, and still compete with the best modern designs. The German Silver keywork shows a natural patina due to is age. The Grenadilla wood is in good condition, though the bell has a full length crack to the bell. A previous owner has added a metal pin and catching plate to the bottom of the upper joint, to ensure safe assembly. The clarinet has excellent condition tan leather pads throughout. The case is functional but in poor condition, and the supplied m'piece is a modern stock Buffet.
