Matched Pair of Boosey & Hawkes London & Paris Clarinets
A matched pair of Boosey & Hawkes, London & Paris, pre-war 1010 clarinets in good condition, which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. This pair have an impressive provenance with their former owner being Martin Beestons who was a member of the English National Ballet Orchestra for many years.
The London & Paris 1010 model, as the name suggests, was made for B&H in France. The clarinets have two matching serial nos. one stamped by the manufacturer, and the other by Boosey & Hawkes. The Bb has serial nos. 1809/1321 The instrument is in wood, which is in overall good condition, the bell is a more modern B&H 1010 replacement. The key work is in German Silver which is original and is in fine condition throughout. The instrument has tan leather pads throughout in excellent condition.
The A has serial nos. 1259, curiously there is no French serial number on the reverse. The instrument is in wood, which is in overall good condition. All pieces are matching and serial numbered apart from the barrel. The key work is also in German Silver and is very good throughout. The instrument has tan leather pads throughout in excellent condition. There are 2 barrels in wood, and one of ebonite. The case is the original which shows much use but still latches securely, and the mouthpiece, is a B&H 1010 No. 2 in good used condition.
