Pair of Rossi French Bore Clarinets
A fine pair of Luis Rossi French bore model clarinets which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The sole previous owner is a South American professional player, and he used this pair in his capacity as Principal Clarinet with the Simon Bolivar Orchestra. With a poly-cylindrical bore these clarinets are based on the Buffet R13, though acoustically they are vastly superior. The instruments feature a compensating G/D vent which has many benefits, including raising the pitch of the 3rd register; a major shortcoming of the R13 design. In common with all Rossi clarinets the instruments are in a single piece which allows the correct positioning of the C#/G# hole.
The Bb S/N F823 is in very good condition, with used white leather pads throughout. The wood is in pristine condition, with no cracks or damage, and there is an additional bell, of thicker walled design, which adds weight and resonance to the timbre. The silver plating is in very condition throughout with no wear, but there is slight wear to the pillars.
The A S/N F824 is in a similar condition to the Bb, though the silver plating shows even less wear. Like the Bb the clarinet has well used white leather pads, but all are sealing. Both instruments have been through our workshop for a thorough "check down" prior to sale.
There are 4 barrels, of 60.5mm, 61.0mm, and 2 of 62.0mm,one of which is in Rosewood. The original Carlos Bona case is in very good condition.
