Selmer Series 9 B Flat Clarinet
A fair condition Selmer Series 9 Bb Clarinet, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The 9* was marketed by Selmer as "pour la musique symphonique", the 9 was "pour le jazz et les varietes." The Series 9 was the last of the wide bore Selmer clarinets. The Nickel Silver plated keywork shows some plating loss, mainly to the ring fingers. The Grenadilla wood is in very good condition apart from a pinned glued crack repair to the upper joint, see photo 12. The crack runs from the upper tenon to the first till key hole, it does not go through to the bore. The clarinet has fish skin pads with cork on the register key & all pads are are in good used condition. The clarinet measures 15.25mm at the top of the reverse cone of the upper joint, there are 2 Selmer barrels of 64.5 mm, & 59.5 mm. The matching serial numbers are S6704, dating to 1962. The original case is much used but fully functional, and the supplied m'piece is a "Larry Coombes", LC1.
