Matched Pair of Boosey & Hawkes pre-war 1010 Clarinets
This pair of Boosey & Hawkes early pre-war 1010 clarinets are in very good condition. This pair have an impressive Provenance and their current owner is Hale Hambleton, a long time member of the Orchestra of English National Opera, now retired. These were a spare pair for Hale, and have seen much use.
The Bb, S/N 15606, has German silver key work in good condition. The wood shows many surface marks and scratches, particularly to the bell rim. The original thumb rest has been replaced with a modern example. The serial numbers match throughout, including the m'piece, though this has been relayed to 1.25mm by 17mm The pads are all used tan leather but in very good condition.
The A, serial nos. 12774, has no cracks or repairs. The German silver key work throughout is very fine. As with the Bb all serial numbers match apart from the barrel, which may be original, but the serial number is obscure. The wood is in very good condition throughout. This instrument has tan leather pads in excellent condition. The case is a used Pro-Tech in good condition.
