Predominant A Clarinet
A very fine Predominant clarinet in A, made in France. From the style of German Silver keywork, it would appear that this clarinet dates to the 1930s. It has no cracks or damage to the Grenadilla wood, which is in excellent condition throughout, the bell is made of ebonite, which again, was a feature of instruments made in this period. The serial numbers are 1284A, and in addition the clarinet is stamped LP, i.e. A =440 Hz. The German silver key work is in fine order throughout, and though the majority of the pads are well used tan leather, the instrument has just had a partial overhaul. Some pads have been replaced, as well as touch and tenon corks. This clarinet plays extremely easily and with fine tuning. It would be ideal for a player seeking to match a modern French bore Bb inexpensively. The compact double case, again from the 1930s, is well used but fully functional.
