F Barbier, Paris, B Flat Clarinet
This is a good condition Florentin Barbier, Paris, Bb clarinet, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. All pieces are original, matching, and stamped "F Barbier Paris". Barbier was a fine professional maker pre WW1, who started his career working for Couesnon, the largest French manufacturer of clarinets. He then became an independent maker before being bought out by Selmer, a testament to the fine quality of his making.
There is no damage to the wood on the main joints, which is Grenadilla, though the bell, is in cocus. The pads are all fish skin and are all sealing well, with some having just been replaced. All touch & tenon corks are fine. The joints are a good fit and there is no joint wobble. The clarinet plays extremely well, very even and with a fine tone. The supplied m'piece is the original. The case is an older Selmer which functions well. This fine wooden clarinet is in excellent condition and is good value.
