Kohlert, Alto Clarinet
An extremely rare Kohlert, of Graslitz, Eb Alto clarinet. This instrument features a double overblowing mechanism, with a second speaker key activated from G natural in the clarion register, i. e. like an open hole Selmer, Paris, Alto made in the immediate postWW2 era. This results in an exceptionally well tuned and responsive Alto, especially in the second register. This instrument was obviously made as a top professional model, with gold plate , and no less than 3 different length crooks. The gold plate shows some wear, mainly to the ring fingers and RH "pinky" keys. The wood has no cracks or damage, except for where some screw holes have been filled when the thumb rest was re-positioned. The Alto has just had a full re-pad in white leather pads, and is sold with our 1 year warranty. The serial numbers are hard to read, but could be, 21684. The original case is in excellent condition, and the Alto comes with a good condition Selmer F Alto m'piece. This is a superb playing Alto, for a player with larger hands, and fingers! The intonation and response is better than modern Alto clarinets costing more than £5,000.
