Matched Pair of Rossi American Bore Clarinets
This pair of Luis Rossi American model clarinets are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. With a 14.7mm poly-cylindrical bore these clarinets are based on the Buffet R13, though acoustically they are vastly superior. This model is Luis Rossi's later version of his best selling clarinet worldwide. Another touch piece is added for low F, which raises the pitch. This adds a new dimension of tonal warmth and improved intonation to the Buffet instrument from which it is derived. These instruments feature a compensating G/D vent which has many benefits, including raising the pitch of the 3rd register; a major shortcoming of the R13 design. In common with all Rossi clarinets the clarinet is in a single piece which allows the correct positioning of the C#/G# hole.
Both clarinets are in excellent condition with no cracks or damage to the wood. The Bb, S/N 1233, has excellent silver plate throughout with only a couple of slight patches of discolouration. the pads are all Rossi original pads in good used condition. The A, S/N A1235 has silver plate in similar condition to the Bb, but the pads have seen less use. The original case is in good used condition, and 5 barrels are supplied. of 60.5 61.5, 62.5mm, 63.5 and 64.5mm. A used Vandoren B40 m'piece is also supplied, which is what was used by the professional who owned the pair.
