Pair of Selmer, Odyssee, Clarinets
These are a very fine pair of Selmer, Paris, Odyssee Clarinets, which are a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. These clarinets have been professionally owned and played here in the UK. Selmer clarinets are undoubtedly amongst the best designed French instruments worldwide. The Odyssee was Selmer's entry level professional model. Like the Selmer Signature the upper joint features a large reversed cone which narrows to 14.5mm. This results in exceptionally accurate twelfths, and overall the intonation is superior to most other French designed instruments today.
The Bb has matching serial numbers NO8698, which dates to the early 2010's. There is one tight, hairline crack to the top of the upper joint, it has been glued, filled, and sealed. The repair is of excellent quality, and the crack does not go through to the bore, the photo of the upper joint can be examined very closely, but it is extremely difficult to make out the crack.
The Silver plate is pristine throughout. The pads are all white leather in very good condition. there are two original, stamped barrels of 64.5mm and 66.5mm.
The A clarinet is in near mint condition, ithas matching serial numbers, PO2559. There are no cracks or damage to the wood, and like the Bb, the white leather pads are in excellent condition. There are two supplied barrels of 65mm, and 66mm. The look and solid feel of the key work is far superior to contemporary Buffet manufacture. The case is the original Selmer in very good condition. The m'piece is a used Selmer HS**, which is provided only for play testing. If desired the pair can be split as follows: Bb in new single case for £1175.00. A in double case for £1345.00.
