Matched Pair of Boosey & Hawkes Symphony 1010 Clarinets
A very fine pair of B&H Symphony 1010 clarinets with an impressive provenance. These instruments were selected new, at the B&H factory in Edgware by Sidney Fell, the renowned British clarinettist. Fell was Principal Clarinet of the LSO, and the only player to hold down dual clarinet Professorships, at the RCM and RNCM. They were chosen for the sole original owner who was then a boy chorister. The original initial service invoice is included, which mentions Sidney Fell, as well as a copy of the last major service invoice in 2015. We have also thoroughly checked down the pair in our workshop prior to sale, with some re-corking and regulation as necessary.
The Bb S/N 474419 has silver plate in good condition, with only slight tarnish. The used tan leather pads are in good condition. As mentioned above the instrument was serviced in 2015, and a surface crack to the barrel was repaired then, in addition some tuning work was done to improve the intonation. the remainder of the wood shows no cracks or repairs.
Th A S/N, 487019, has silver plate in excellent condition, and the used tan leather pads are all sealing well. The wood has no cracks or repairs. The pair come with two barrels, one of which has a repaired crack and two original B&H No. 2 m'pieces. The used double case is in good condition.
