Selmer, Mark VI Tenor Saxophone
A Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone bearing the serial number 92429, which is a commission sale for Clarinets Direct. The last owner is a London based professional. The 5-digit number (as opposed to the later 6 digits) denotes the period of the finest and most sought-after Mark VI saxophones to come from Selmer’s Paris factory. This one dates from 1961. It features nickel plated key-work and a body that has been sensitively re-lacquered in the characteristic warm honey shade of the early Selmers. The butterfly and floral motif engraving, extending to the bow, denotes an instrument built and assembled in Selmer's Paris workshops. There are only light signs of general use, the instrument has been well cared for.
Intonation is accurate across the entire range, and all pads, springs and resonators are in excellent condition. The instrument has been fully serviced by Howarth of Baker Street, London. It comes in an as-new Hiscox Litelflite case.
