Leblanc, LL, E Flat Clarinet
A rare and fine G Leblanc LL Eb piccolo Clarinet, in excellent condition. Leon Leblanc was determined to bringing acoustical, mechanical, and musical improvements to the manufacture of woodwind instruments. Although Leblanc's instruments were almost entirely handmade, Leon Leblanc insisted that the craftsmen follow careful measurements. "Music is an art, but it is still governed by the laws of science," he declared (Music Trades, July 1996). As a result, Leblanc instruments were more consistent than those that had come before. The company continued to strive for consistent quality, ease of playability, and mechanical innovation, throughout its history. The LL model, named for Leon, was, some feel, the pinnacle of this achievement, and at the time of launch was Leblanc's top professional model Eb.
The serial nos. are 62017, which makes this one of the last LL Ebs made, dating to the mid 2000s. The wood has no cracks or repairs, and is in superb order throughout. The Silver plated keywork is also in fine condition throughout. The instrument has lightly used fish skin pads, all are sealing well. This instrument tunes exceptionally well, and demonstrates a surprisingly warm and even tone for an Eb clarinet. The supplied m'piece is the original, as is the case, again in good used condition.
