Selmer, Paris, Sax Fingered B Flat Clarinet
A rare "Console", by Selmer Paris, plateau Saxophone fingered Bb clarinet. This instrument is in ebonite and all piece are matching and original. There are no cracks or damage. The Maillechort keywork is in excellent condition, with only a light age associated patina. This fine Jazz clarinet has just had a full overhaul in fish skin pads in our workshop and is sold with our full 1 year warranty. A copy of the original 1932 Selmer Paris brochure is the last photo. This instrument plays with exceptional intonation, a rich and sonorous sound, and a very even scale. The main difference between this" Sax fingered" and a "simple system" clarinet, is that, [with the exception of the lack of duplicating LH and Rh "pinky" keys"] the lower joint is a Boehm system. In the past such instruments with a metal crook and bell were given the name " Saxonette". The case protects the clarinet well, but the LH spring for the catch has failed. NB The case has been replaced with a different, fully functioning, B&H Bandhite example, not pictured.
